Meet the Faculty
Dr. Bruening and Dr. Whisner are the core faculty behind the TRANSCEND Program. Supporting faculty members are listed below are involved in the training, advising, and education of trainees, and participation in CE and TA activities.
CORRIE WHISNER, PhD |
Dr. Whisner is an Associate Professor with research focused on pediatric and perinatal nutrition and metabolism. Her work includes dietary interactions with the gut microbiome and how these interactions influence growth and cardiometabolic health outcomes. Dr. Whisner oversees administration tasks and trainee engagement at the Arizona State University site and assists in leadership and communication training, as well as creating a community of practice.
Dr. Dinour is an Associate Professor of Nutrition in the Department of Nutrition and Food Studies at Montclair State University. A Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN), certified lactation counselor (CLC), and public health professional, her research focuses on health-promoting policies, programs, and practices that improve childhood nutrition and food security, particularly in the areas of breastfeeding/chestfeeding, school food, and university settings. Dr. Dinour is the Didactic Program in Dietetics (DPD) Director and Graduate Program Coordinator for the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics Certificate Program. She serves as the Community Engaged Teaching and Learning Scholar for the Office of Community Engagement and Partnerships. For TRANSCEND, Dr. Dinour oversees administration tasks and trainee engagement at Montclair State University.
